One thing that has always bothered me about linux, debian specificaly, is that make and all those things aren’t installed by default. They’re kinda needed to do stuff! The only reason they’re not included that I can think of is that with apt you, theoreticaly don’t need them. It still bugs me though when I’ve got a fresh install and go to compile something and make isn’t anywhere to be found.
Ubuntu server under Vmware.
Fan freaking tastic. This is probably something I won’t be doing again anytime soon. I will eventually need to replace the OS on this server because it’s old and crufty, but I’d like to switch it over to ubuntu. So I’d thought I get it all setup under vmware, then just dd or something the data over to the hardware when the time comes.
Windows firewall blocks samba and nfs from vmware….. great. And now that I finaly have smb working the old server keeps crapping out on me. Not sure if it’s a version thing of if the old server just can’t keep up.
Shoutcast changed stuff.
They redid shoutcast.com. Now there’s not “alternative” genre. I can only find pop rock in the rock section. I am sad.
