I got a call from a consumer wondering where thier part was.  This normaly isn’t a big deal since people like to forget the “business” part of “business days” for shipping times.  I went and dug through the system and it turns out the train carrying the package derailed in illonois!  What really got me about the whole situation is that UPS send the package all the way back to us for some reason.  I would’ve thought it’d make more sense to check the packages at the nearest sorting facility and send them on to the destination, but that’s me.

I just wonder how many other companies had packages on that train….. “uh… your package is late because the train derailed….”.

I also didn’t know UPS sent packages by rail, I thought it was plane or truck.  Go figure.

I’ve noticed when I go for a walk on my breaks that I tend to pick up my right foot by the toe.  So much so I land on the outside of my foot.  It’s not an issue with my left foot though.

I was talking to a man that needed to replace his DS.  So we get to the point where I get all his credit card info and say “Man, I can’t even read my own writting.”.
The man laughs….
The line goes dead….
Phos says some bad words.

I put notes in the guy’s file so the next rep would know what had been discussed.  The sucky part is that I just didn’t have enough information to process the whole order.

Here’s a money saving tip for qwest, and it’s free:

Stop stuffing my phone bill with piles of adverts.

Ok, printing an ad on the bill evenlope was pretty smart but you always stuff a bunch of shit in along with the bill.  That has to raise your mail rates a bunch.  And with the time to design the brochures, printing, etc you’re just wasting money.

Give me my bill so I can pay it and stow the rest.

Can’t remember if I mentioned it before but I missed one of those “how to get work” workshops that UI requires you to go to.  Then I forgot to send in my reasons why I missed the workshop.  Double screw up.
So I owed them some money, fine, I’m employed now my first check should cover it.  It took them like a month to actually send me the bill, then several more weeks before my check was actually processed!
Are they just that busy or is it all burucratic slowness?  I don’t care anymore.

Just ran the speed test at text.dslreports.com on the ds browser.  It comes in at a pathetic 59kbit.  Now this could be partly because of my setup, it ends up getting munged around a fair bit before actually hitting the net.

Compare that to the 200+kbit my cell phone usually gets.  Still not sure if the slow down is my network setup or the DS itself.  I’m going to try some more testing later.

Saturday I went out for lunch to ivar’s. It was quite good except the chowder was too hot. I kept checking the time and telling myself I had plenty of time to eat and get back. But i didn’t, lunch started at 11am not 1130! Oops.
I didn’t get yelled at but I still can’t believe I did that.
