Shiiiiiiiiiit. Running the Ubuntu live CD points out an interesting problem with old ass hardware. Not everything is detected. It is aware of the sound cards but apparently doesn’t have drivers for it. I think I’ll install ubuntu tot he HD anyways. I’ve gone too long without linux.
